The National Arts Awards
A Celebration of National Leadership in the Arts

Americans for the Arts presented the 7th annual National Arts Awards on October 7 in New York City. This celebration honored individuals—artists, advocates, business leaders, patrons, and educators—who understand that the arts enrich people and communities alike. Actor and activist Victoria Rowell served as Master of Ceremonies, and New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg gave opening remarks and read a letter of greeting from First Lady Laura Bush. Contemporary artist Jeff Koons designed the stage and podium for the ceremony, and two student violinists from the Manhattan School of Music, Luis Esnaola and Wu Jie, performed in tribute to their teacher, honoree Pinchas Zukerman.
